The Heart of the Matter

The heart is full of energy. I call it Grand Central Station because all your blood flows through it and all vessels lead back to it. Its how your body survives. Even when your blood is in need of revitalization with oxygen, it makes its way to the heart by channels set it place by our God our creator. The heart then directs it to where it needs to go to receive what it needs.

When God made His covenant with his people, He set in place the law of circumcision as a symbol of that covenant. Over in Romans 2:29, Paul talks about how it was not enough to be circumcised physically if you did not abide by the covenant inwardly. The word tells us in Deuteronomy 30:6 that the Lord will circumcise the heart so that we will love Him with all our heart and soul. The heart is what is most important Him. I feel like I quote this scripture so much lately but here I am again…

And now these three remain: Faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:13

 See what good is it to look like we are abounding in love on the outside if it is not truly rooted in our hearts.

In the spirit, your heart is still the center from which all things flow. When we love someone, we love them with all our heart. Obedience originates from the heart. All of our actions and words that we speak are how others are able to recognize then contents of our hearts. My pastor one day told us to make a list of things we felt we needed to be delivered from. I tell you after I made that list, I saw some things that I did not like. I knew it was past time to check my heart and get it in alignment with God.

We can look at our own actions and review our own thoughts to see the things rooted in our hearts. God gives us the wisdom and knowledge to know when our hearts are not set in the right place. He will give us conviction to help us get back in the right place.

Search me, God and know my heart;

test me and know my anxious thoughts.

See is there is any offensive way in me,

and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalms 139:23-24

It’s time to check your heart. Are there things rooted in your heart that are offensive to the word of God? Let’s take this week to really focus and pray on these matters. Not just for ourselves, but for our country. Even for the nations. Our nations are in a time of needed healing. When the body is sick, the heart feels the effect of that illness. If the heart is not strong enough it will succumb to the elements of the disease. Please join me this week in unity of prayer for the hearts of the land. Take a moment out of your day and to say a prayer for the renewing of our hearts.

Circumcision has value if you observe the law, but if you break the law, you have become as though you had not been circumcised. So then, if those who are not circumcised keep the laws requirements, will they not be regarded as though they were circumcised.

Romans 2:25-26

Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.

John 14:23

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved,

Romans 10:10

Keep my commands and you will live;

guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.

Bund them on your fingers

write them on the tablet of your heart.

Proverbs 7:2-3

Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank you for cleaning up our hearts today God by searching us and showing us where we fall short. We thank you for the love that you give to us, the mercies that you show us. We ask that you help us to reciprocate your love to those around us. Today we recognize the sickness of our nations that flows from the heart. We ask that you move upon us and heal our hearts where we are weak. Remove any of the offenses from our hearts that keep us from the way everlasting. Put us on one accord, with like minds to serve you and to walk as Christ walked, with sincere love and humility of one another. Through love, we pray healing, deliverance, and peace over the nations. We pray that you get the glory and that hearts, an abundance of hearts, are turned back to you God. We love you God and will forever give you the honor the glory and the praise. Amen!
