They Suspected Nothing

So I was watching an Avengers with my family at home over the holiday weekend. Yes, I am a Marvel fan. One thing I love about the marvelous work of Stan Lee (RIP), is how he always finds a way to introduce a topic of injustice or unity into the movies. Sometimes subtle, but very powerful messages. The movie that we were watching happen to be endgame. Although there are many hidden messages (the girl power one being my fave), I got a message that I wanted to share with you today.

(Spoiler alert) So if you are not an Avengers fan, End Game specifically, let me give you a quick rundown. The villain in this movie is named Thanos. Thanos is THE villain. He is powerful and mighty and has this huge mega army. They are completely loyal and dedicated to him and his cause. His cause specifically is to wipe out half of all living things. This is insane right. But he has dedicated followers to support and aid him in his mission. My husband refers to him as the all time best villain because he completely believed that what he was doing was in the best interest of everyone. You could not tell him he was wrong.

So in this movie he said something in a dialog with one of his children that rung bells with me. He had his daughter to infiltrate and pretend to be one of the good guys so that he could get close to them, and she succeeded. The dialogue goes:

Thanos: Well done.

Daughter: Thank you father. They suspected nothing.

Thanos: The arrogant never do.

This move lead to a full attack!!

When he said this, it hit me differently than it has all the hundreds of times I had watched it. I felt the spirit was saying to me; they wont even see it coming.

A discerning person keeps wisdom in view,

but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth.

Proverbs 17:24

God hates arrogance. In fact, Proverbs 8:13 literally says

I hate pride and arrogance

Its foolishness to God. When we are proud and arrogant at heart, we are blind to the wisdom of God and unable to discern situations and people in our lives. Specifically lets talk about our enemy in common, satan. Satan is legit the ultimate bad guy. He has dark angels on his team who readily support him and his missions to infiltrate and take out everything created by God. He wants to be the most powerful one and there is nothing that can be said to him to change his mind. Like we have said before, he has been written out of the will. There is no inheritance for him. What he does now, with his mega army, is roam about seeking who he can drag down with him.

Make no mistake. The enemy is smart. He is cunnings he can be charming and manipulative. He fools and infiltrate people constantly. He causes people to stumble, turn away and disown their inheritance with Jesus in heaven. We can get so wrapped up in our self, or we think so highly of ourselves that we become distracted from the discerning voice of God. Our hearts and eyes wonder off to other things and pull us away from the Lord leaving us vulnerable to the devices of the enemy. People become so far away from God that they can’t even hear him. Their lives are being infiltrated on every side and they have no clue. They cant even see how the enemy is coming at them and everything in their lives. As a matter of fact, THEY SUSPECT NOTHING. They don’t even know what has happened until they physically or mentally feel the attack and destruction of the enemy.

Pride goes before destruction,

a haughty spirit before a fall

Proverbs 16:18

Pride right. It can be so subtle sometimes. Sometimes we can be prideful and not even see it because we have abandoned the first principle of wisdom. The fear of the Lord. Reverence for who He is.

When pride comes, then comes disgrace,

but with humility comes wisdom.

Proverbs 11:2

Wisdom to understand your position is Christ. Wisdom to be guided into the place of pleasing the Lord. I want to remind you today to humble yourself before the Lord. I don’t only mean mentally; I also mean subjecting yourself physically to a position (literally) of humbleness to the Lord. Get on your knees or on your face (lowly) thus humbling yourself before God. 1 Chronicles 29:20 talks about how Gods people bowed low and did homage to the Lord. There are so many instances in the word where Gods people laid prostrate before him, fell on their face with humility because they feared the Lord. In humility before God, we can find spiritual guidance, wisdom and discernment.

He guides the humble in what is right

and teaches them his way.

Psalm 25:9

Here is my plea to all who come across this message, as I will take it in as well. Don’t let the enemy do a sneak attack on you. Don’t let him infiltrate aspects of your life without you being aware of him. Don’t wander. Seek discernment through the wisdom of God and keep it in your view at all times. Let him guide you from the destruction that pride and arrogance brings. In the end God has all power and He can bring us out of any situation. But lets move preemptively, disabling the enemy before he can even attack.

I might have to part II this one yall!!!

Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank you for your word that breathes on us and refreshes us daily. Let us take heed to your wisdom and your teaching that is here to guide and direct us if we only open are hearts to you. As we humble ourselves before you God, give us the wisdom and discernment we need to preemptively move to divert the enemies attack on our lives. Open our eyes and ears to hear You Father, our lead and guide. That we can be ever hearing and ever seeing of you and the way you would have us to go. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!
