Our Father Our Everything

God, our Father you are_________

Take a moment to fill in the blank there.

He is our creator of all things. He is our reason for being. Within that title we also get protector, provider, healer, mentor, deliverer, way maker, hope, joy, peace, light. This list can go on and on about all the wonderful things that our Heavenly Father is to us. Though we should praise God every day and all day, Father’s Day is here, and I want to take this morning to give praise to my Heavenly Father who keeps me. There is so much that can be said about Him and so many reasons why we worship Him. Can you share with us why He means so much to you? What does the word father mean to you?

A father is supposed to be the one who teaches us the ways of life and how to navigate through it. They teach us how to grow and make us better over time. Making us strong and not letting the woes of this world keep us down. A true father seeks to advance his children and set them on the right track to a productive and successful life. Don’t we know that our Father in Heaven is all of this and more!! The things He does for us are for His glory and for our advancement into the Kingdom. He builds us up and makes us strong. He is never seeking to tear and keep us down. He shows us how to overcome the troubles of this world. With confidence, I can say how much my Father loves you and I, because of how of He shows us.

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,

My God, my rock in whom I take refuge;

My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Psalm 18:2

He is more. Sometimes who He is can be taken for granted or even brushed off as old news, but Gods love is never old news and sometimes we need to be reminded of all the things He is to us and to those around us. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves to take courage in who He is. Knowing that he keeps us in peace through His love.

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

Isaiah 26:3

One that always keeps me going is knowing that He is a father to all. Romans 2:11 tells us that there is no favoritism or discrimination in the love of Him. He wants to guide us all through life with grace and grant us wisdom to help us keep to the right path. He provides and makes a way when we see no way. A father is always there for his kids. When his kids see him, they see love, hope and peace. That indeed is our Father in Heaven. His word is our ultimate guide. When we see Him at work in our lives, it gives a sense of love, hope, and peace. He is comfort, for we find that in Him as well.

I laugh sometimes when thinking, I wonder if God is looking down on me, shaking His head saying, what is the crazy child doing now? Or, what did she just say? Sometimes we may do things out of the way of our fathers to bring dishonor or shame to them. The thing about our Heavenly Father is that you can never have gone so far out of His way that He can not reach you. His love is unconditional and full of grace. For that I am so grateful.

“I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.

Isaiah 43:25

I thank Him for giving His one and only son that we may get to know Him. For without Jesus, we would not have access to Him.  I hope that on this day, this post reminds you of the goodness of God and who He is to you. Let that reminder be your motivation this week. For me, I will motivate myself in knowing that my Father is intentional. That everything I encounter this week will be used for my making because that is how God intended for it to be.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

1 Peter 1:3

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

James 1:17

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for loving us the way only a true Father can. Your love and grace is so sufficient. Today we just want to praise you for who you are and for all the roles you play in our lives. We worship you God for you alone are worthy to be praised. Keep us in your loving arms and we will forever give you honor and Glory. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!
